Scale of adult $ about 2 mm. long, moderately broadened behind, convex, usually curved, white, not glossy, but with ± conspicuous growth-lines ; exuviae orange-brown to dark brown. The colour of the second exuviae is only slightly obscured by a faint secretionary covering. Puparium of ^comparatively large, white, non-carinate, with yellow or orange exuviae. Adult } when mounted, regular in outline, about 1*3 mm. long, elongate, widest behind the middle, hyaline, except the median lobes which are very dense, and the middle part of the pygidium which is yellowish. The segmentation of the body is unusually distinct but is not strongly marked at the margins, nor are the abdominal segments produced. The pygidial margin is simple. There is only one pair of lobes present, which are short and broad, densely chitinised, brown, with the rounded outer margin once notched. Plates are apparently absent, but there are two stout spines on each side. Pygidium as illustrated (fig. 176).
