The Commission has ruled that the stem of the name of the type genus Hippopodium J. Sowerby, 1819 is emended to hippopodium-(Mollusca, Bivalvia) thus removing the homonymy with the family-group name hippopodiidae Kolliker, 1853 (based on Hippopodius Quoy & Gaimard, 1827) (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa).
