ECOLOGIA DE MOSQUITOS (DIPTERA, CULICIDAE) EM CRIADOUROS NATURAIS E ARTIFICIAIS DE ÁREA RURAL NO NORTE DO ESTADO DO PARANÁ, BRASIL. VIL COEXISTÊNCIA DAS ESPÉCIES José Lopes^ ABSTRACT ECOLOGY OF MOSQUITOES (DIPTERA, CULICIDAE) IN NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL RURAL BREEDING SITES IN NORTHERN PARANÁ STATE, BRAZIL. VII. THE COEXISTENCE OF SPECIES. For the collection of Culicidae larvae tires were installed in five properties along the forest at São Domingos Brook's banks, Paraná, Brazil. Larvae found in Containers left in rural surroundings in the same properties were also collected. The Index of Interspecific Associations (Hurlbert C8) was calculated for the species. In the wood by the river bank a positive and meaningful association was detected for Culex eduardoi Casal & Garcia, 1968 with Cx. quinquefasciatus Say, 1823. A meaningful and negative C8 between Cx. eduardoi and Limatus durhamii Theobaldi, 1901 and between this and Cx. quinquefasciatus was also detected. In the same surroundings, positive and meaningful associations were observed between Cx. coronator Dyar & Knab, 1906 and Cx. bigoti Bellardi, 1861, Cx. bahamensis Dyar & Knab, 1906 and Anopheles arg^^níar^w Robineau-Desvoidy, 1827. The same kind of relationship was also found between Aedes fluviatilis (Lutz, 1905) and Li. durhamii and between An. argyritarsis and Cx. bigoti, while a negative and meaningful association was observed in Ae. fluviatilis and Cx. bahamensis. These data show attractiveness or repelence among the species mentioned, in their coexistence. KEYWORDS. Culicidae, coexistence, artificial breeding sites, larvae.
