The following names, adopted by the " Committee on Classification and Nomenclature" of the American Ornithologists' Union, represent new or hitherto unpublished combinations. They are here presented in order that the first known use of such combinations may be cited among the references which the committee has decided to give under each species, viz, the first pertinent binomial or trinomial appellation, and the first use of the name as adopted in the new list now being prepared by the com-mittee. When the species is one given in the writer's "Nomenclature of North American Birds" (Bulletin 21, U. S. National Museum), the correspond-ing name and number are given ; but in the case of species described since the " Nomenclature " was published, the full reference to the origi-nal description is given. -^ JParus inornatus grisens.
