Somaliland has always beep known as the big-game hunter's paradise, and in consequence but few have had the energy to collect insects as well. Mr. E. Lort Phillips and Dr. Donaldson Smith, however, are notable exceptions. I always kept a killing-bottle in my tent and also collected outside whatever I happened to meet, but I must honestly confess that I never devoted my time seriously to collecting insects. Owing to the great sameness of thorn-bush and undergrowth, the Lepidoptera of Somaliland are dis-appointing. The Butterflies are few and somewhat uninteresting,
