The hyaline staminal tube. free fromnthe corolla tube. is the only unique characterislicthat distinguishes \rdisia from the other genera ofthe family, and thus defines it. While preplaring the taxonomic rieatment of Ar-disia for inclusion in the Mvrsinaceae for F/onr Me-souneiri(cti1. one new species was discovered with-in Arda sub. isi, a1ml two addlitional onesfrom subgenus Ic((or'ea (Aubilet) Mez. Also, twonew combinations were found to be needed, andthree binomials are relegated to synonymy.
