Sutherland refers to this variety as "cooBBon shrubs, 1 — 2 m. tall, on mountainsides with low shrubs and herbs, frequent in pastures, leaves strongly aromatic". He encountered it at 2700 m. altitude, flowering and fruiting in April and June. The corollas on his no. 132 were "light-violet with yellow throats", on 3U0 "white with green centers", and on 380 "light-purple with yelloir center" . Hatschbach found it on sandy "campo cerrado", flowering in October, and describes it as a subshrub, 1 m« tall, the corollas rose-colored.
