290 New Records, Identifications, and Synonymy of Diptera Found in Hawaii. BY E. H. P.RYAN, JR. (Presented at the meeting of December 7, 1922.) During the course of my work on Hawaiian flies, names have come to hght which have been apparently omitted from local literature. Some of these determinations were made by Mr. F. W. Terry, of specimens in his collection. Some were identi-fied for Dr. Illingworth by the late Mr. Frederick Knab, and others, recently, by Dr. Aldrich. A few of the synonyms were suggested by Major W. S. Patton, of Edinburgh. New Records. Calliphora latifrons Hough. [Muscidae.] Identified by Aldrich ; specimens collected by Illingworth. near Waimea, Hawaii, June, 1922. Conicera atra (Meigen). [Phoridae.] Identified by Knab ; specimens bred by Illingworth, "ex rotten potatoes," Oahu, March, 1916. Hydrotaea houghi Malloch. [Anthomyidae.] Identified by Malloch ; specimens collected by Illingworth, near Waimea, Hawaii, June 19, 1922; a single specimen (Swezey), Kilauea, Hawaii, P^ebruary 24, 1919. Milichia sp. [Agromyzidae.] Det. by Knab ; specimens bred "ex barley seed," by Illing-worth, March, 1915. Rhodesiella elegantula (Becker). [Chloropidae.] Specimens collected by Illingworth, near Waimea, Hawaii, June 18, 1922. Identified by Aldrich, who says: "(Meroschiis of Becker, Monog. Ann. Mus. Nat. Hung., IX, 1911, p. 89.) Known from Formosa, Java. Bezzi, in Journ. N. Y. Ent. Soc, XXVII, 1919, 174, has explained that Mcroscinis is a syn. of Rhodesiella Adams." Proc. Haw. Ent. Soc, V, No. 2, September, 1923.
