XLVI. Descriptions of various Coleopterous Insects from New Holland, collected chiefly hy Mr. Fortnum, at Adelaide. By the Rev. F. W. Hope, F.K.S., &c. [Read 2d February, 1846.] In the second part of the fourth volume of the Entomological Transactions, published in 1815, I described several new species of Coleoptera, collected in Adelaide by Mr. Fortnum. That zealous individual has lately returned to England, and transferred to my hands his entire collection. Amongst the insects are many important additions, which will tend to illustrate the Entomolo-gical Fauna of that interesting country. Acquainted with the localities and habits of many of the species, he has kindly offered me the assistance of his note book. I intend therefore to present to the Society descriptions of a series of new species of the dif-ferent groups, with Mr, Fortnum's notes appended thereto, and I am happy to say that I shall have several of the species now described to add to the riches of our Entomological Cabinet.
