USA ABSTRACT Five new species of plethodontid salamanders, all belonging to the genus Pseudoeiirycea {ahuitzotl. mixcoatl. tenchalli, teotepec. and tlahcidloh). are described from higher elevations (2200-3425 m) in the Sierra Madre del Sur of western Guerrero. Mexico. The geographic and elevational distributions of the eight species of plethodontids in the genera Bolitoglossa, Pseudoeurycea. and Thorius known in western Guerrero are reviewed and compared with salamander distributions in Oaxaca. A key to Guerreran salamanders is provided. Kev words: Caudata; Plethodontidae; Pseudoeurycea; New species; Thorius; Bolitoglossa; Guerrero; Mexico. RESUMEN Cinco especies nuevas de salamandras plethodontida. todas en el genero Pseudoeurycea {ahuitzotl. mixcoatl. tenchalli. teotepec. y tlahcuiloh). son descritas de las elevaciones altas (2200-3425 m) de la Sierra Madre del Sur del oeste de Guerrero, Mexico. Las distribuciones geograficas y elevacionales de las ocho especies de plethodontida en los generos Bolitoglossa, Pseudoeurycea, y Thorius conocidas en el oeste de Guerrero son revisadas y ellos se comparan a las distribuciones de las salamandras en Oaxaca. Una clave a las salamandras de Guerrero es provista.
