AEKIV FÖR ZOOLOGI, BAND 13. N:o 6. The crane-flies coUected by tlie swedish expe-dition (1895—1896) to Southern Chile and Tierra del Fuego. (Tipulidae, Diptera.) By CHARLES P. ALEXANDER, Ph. D., Urbana, Illinois. With 2 Plates. Communicated January 29th by Chr. Aurivillius and Y. Sjöstedt. Through the kindness of Dr. Yngve Sjöstedt, the wri-ter has been enabled to study the crane-flies collected in southern Chile and Tierra del Fuego by the Swedish Ant-arotic Expedition of 1895—1896. This collection constitutes one of the largest and most important lots of Tipulidae that has yet been brought from the extreme southern parts of South America, and adds much to our knowledge of the crane-flies of a very interesting and still comparatively little-known region. The general itinerary and narrative of the Swedish Ex-pedition has been recorded in a most interesting manner by Dr. Axel Ohlin, one of the three members of the party.^ The majority of the specimens were taken at Punta Arenas ^ Ohlin, Axel.
